People in the US are cutting down on the number of trips they take to the dentist as a result of the global recession, it has been revealed.
Research carried out by the American Optometric Association highlighted the fact that 63 per cent of people said they visit the dentist less now than they did a year ago.
In addition, it showed that just eight per cent of Americans have not cut back on some form of healthcare – be it visits to the emergency dentist, optometrist, or other healthcare professionals.
Meanwhile, in the UK, local paper the Shields Gazette recently reported that waiting times for young people to visit the emergency dentist in the north-east of England have been dramatically reduced following the appointment of a new orthodontist in the region.
The unnamed doctor is to set up his surgery in the next few weeks and could help cut waiting times by a third.
