For patients who find accessing dental treatment difficult, we offer IV sedation during all of our appointments. This service is also available during unscheduled emergency treatments. Many clinics are not able to offer emergency sedation, whereas here at Pearl Dental Clinic we have a trained anesthetist. This is to ensure our patients feel comfortable and relaxed whatever treatment is taking place.

Dentists Offering Sedation

We offer deep IV sedation. This method delivers the sedative drugs directly into the vein. Therefore, the results are almost instant. For anyone who has not had IV sedation before it really does work. Even the most skeptical of patients find that they are calm and relaxed throughout the treatment. Furthermore, it is unlikely that a patient will remember any of the treatment afterward. You are a potential candidate for sedation for any of the following reasons:

• General fear is felt due to the thought of receiving dental treatment.
• For patients who have trouble becoming numb when an anaesthetic is administered. Once relaxed under the effects of sedation this will not be a problem.
• The gag reflex is very sensitive or there is a fear of choking while receiving dental treatment.
• A lack of regular dental care is avoided due to fear or anxiety (whether there is pain present or not).
• There is a history of traumatic experiences, either medical or dental.
• Denial of a dental problem has caused extreme pain that has become unbearable.
• A patient needs complex dental treatment or surgery.

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list. There are potentially many other reasons why you think you may need dental sedation.
