Wine and cheese ‘are good for teeth’

wine and teethResearch has found cheese could be good for teeth.

Eating cheese with wine could counteract any damage caused to the teeth, a new study has revealed.

Metro News Toronto reported a study carried out in Germany by researchers from Johannes Gutenberg University showed adult teeth that were soaked in white wine had a significant loss of calcium and phosphorous in the enamel surface.

However, adding cheese to the mix reduced the effect of the demineralisation.

The study concluded: “Red wines such as Pinot Noir did not damage the enamel as much [as whites]. Eating cheese at the same time as drinking white wine could counter the effects.”

Elsewhere, Canadian publication Divine recently asserted that flossing is one of the most important oral health routines to keep up with, as failing to do so could have a detrimental impact on a person’s overall health.

The report noted flossing can help to remove plaque and bacterial build-up in the mouth in areas that brushing alone cannot reach.
