Peter Crouch talks to media about dental trauma

Peter Crouch is going to get back on the field to play Aston Villa next week after suffering some serious dental trauma at the hands of Newcastle player Fabricio Coloccini, and he’s determined not to let the injuries stop him from making an impact. The Stoke City player had two of his teeth knocked out and several others damaged during the clash last week and will be forced to wear a brace, covered with a mouth guard during games, for the next fortnight. After receiving pitch-side care from a dentist at the ground and then visiting a top London dentist this week, it seems Peter won’t have to have implants or a bridge to replace the damaged teeth.

Crouch spoke to the Mirror and described the injury as ‘pretty horrendous’, adding that his teeth dropped out into his hand following the impact. He went on to say that ‘thankfully there was a dentist in the crowd, a season ticket holder who works for the club, who came down and acted very quickly. He saved [the teeth].’

Despite the difficult week, Crouch was able to joke about the accident, saying ‘I thought I was going to end up looking like (Scottish player) Joe Jordan! I’ve never had to wear a brace before, not even when I was a teenager, but all I need now is a few spots and I can go back to school!’
