Astra Tech already offers its Atlantis patient-specific abutments in titanium, gold-shaded titanium and zirconia.
Now it has launched the product in shaded zirconia, which the company asserted would give clinicians "the freedom and flexibility to provide their patients with truly aesthetic results".
The firm also noted this additional option would reduce the need to change the abutment colour through the use of porcelain, meaning the procedure would be more efficient.
Designed from the desired tooth-shape using Atlantis Virtual Abutment Design Software, the product is made from a solid shaded zirconia blank.
In conclusion, Astra Tech stated the tooth replacement would be good for those patients for whom aesthetic results are important.
The company suggests dental implants could be a suitable option for people because they look, feel and function like natural teeth.
