What To Do If You Have A ToothacheBelow is a list of things to help you know what to do if you have a toothache. Often, when a patient is in pain it is difficult to know what to do. Here is a step by step guide to help you cope with a dental emergency situation.

What To Do If You Have A Toothache

Step one: Identity (if possible) the source of the toothache and then call Pearl Dental Clinic for an emergency appointment. Our urgent appointments are available from 9am until 10pm, seven days a week. We endeavour to see you as soon as possible, certainly within a few hours of you reporting the problem. If you are experiencing heavy bleeding due to a dental trauma then this may need to take priority. If this is the case then attend your local Accident and Emergency department as soon as possible. In the event that you are unable to get there but are in a serious condition then call an ambulance immediately.

Step two: If the issue is not life threatening then you can take painkillers from your local pharmacy, for example, Paracetamol or Ibuprofen. This will help control the pain while you get to us. We are located at 5 Vale Parade, Kingston Vale, London SW15 3PS. To help plan your route you can use our quick and easy journey planner.

Step three: Keep a mental note or paper record of the pain that you are experiencing. The more information we have the easier it will be to treat the issue promptly.

Other things you could do

While waiting or making your way to the appointment you could apply an ice pack to the area. This will help to numb the pain and make it more manageable until you seek assistance. Rinsing with warm salt water can help to clear an infection. Salt is a natural antibacterial and will also help to clean out any debris. Furthermore, Clove Oil is a natural anaesthetic that can help to numb the area further.
