Mercury Free Dentistry

In dentistry, there has been a lot of debate around the use of mercury based fillings in adults and children. Mercury based fillings also known as Amalgam fillings have been used for many years in dentistry and some dentists argue that they are safe to be placed in patient’s teeth.
Here at Pearl Dental Clinic we like to give our patients the choice of having metal fillings or composite white fillings or even longer lasting white ceramic inlays. White fillings bond to tooth tissue, however mercury based fillings do not have any bonding and just fill the cavity created.
In some cases with white fillings, one can be more conservative and therefore reduce the tooth cutting required to restore the tooth.
At our clinic, we can remove your old mercury based fillings safely and replace them with a suitable substitute that is cosmetically more pleasing and does not contain any mercury. The whole treatment can take few visits to replace a full mouth of silver fillings depending on the number of restorations that you have.
Also, by using the WAND™ computerized painless injection system we can eliminate the dreaded injection pain and make your dental experience a much more pleasant one.

White Inlay
The broken or decayed tooth is prepared.
An Inlay is made and fitted to the tooth.
White or Gold inlays are available.
Changing Amalgam to Composite fillings
Amalgam (silver) fillings in the lower jaw can often be seen when we talk or laugh.
But amalgam fillings can also sometimes be seen in the upper jaw.
These can be unsightly and can also discolour the tooth.
Composite (White) fillings are available to improve this.
White Onlay
Depending on the extent of the repair required sometimes the full top surface of the tooth is removed.
A Full Onlay is then produced to replace the biting surface.
Our clinic is open from Monday to Sunday, 8am to 11pm and you can see one of our cosmetic dentists for a consultation, by calling reception on: 0208 547 9997.
