Below you can see images of implant placements for various clinical situations where one or more missing teeth are replaced with dental implants.
Implant Case 2A. Dental Implants after Bone Augmentation
This patient lost his front four teeth through gum disease.
Due to the bone loss caused by gum disease, we carried out block Bone augmentation using human bone from the tissue bank, six months previously.
For Dental Implants to be placed, he needed block bone grafting to supplement his current bone level.
We placed four Straumann SLActive fast healing implants and checked their final position.
The X-ray shows four implants placed in the ideal position.
The Final Crowns can be placed in around 8 weeks once bone-implant integration has taken place.
8 Weeks Later ...
After 8 weeks, implant and bone integration has occurred and at this point the temporary abutments can be attached to the implants.
The temporary abutments are screwed onto the implants below.
Temporary crowns are then cemented to the temporary abutments below them.
The purpose of the temporary crowns is to encourage the gum to take shape around the temporary crowns and create the normal knife edge gum shape between the crowns.
This process takes ~2 months.
8 Weeks Later ...
The final implant titanium abutment positions are planned on models.
These abutments will be placed on the implants in the mouth.
The final implant crowns are positioned on the model.
The implant crowns can be seen before cementation in the mouth.
The permanent titanium abutments are screwed onto the implants below and sealed.
The final implant crowns are cemented to the abutments.
The patient now has four newly restored dental implants.
Implant Case 2B.Missing front tooth
This patient presented with a missing front tooth which she wanted to replace with an implant.
We placed a Straumann SLActive implant in the gap.
Here you can see the implant placed in the missing tooth gap.
The implant can now be seen from above buried in the bone.
We placed a temporary crown to encourage gum contouring.
The final crown was then placed with a well contoured gum margin around the implant crown.
Implant Case 2C. Single unit Implant crown
Eight weeks after his implant placement, the patient presents for his implant crown impressions.
An impression post is placed onto the implant for the impression stage.
Shade A3 is chosen by the patient.
An X-ray is taken to show location of the implant and correct placement of the impression post.
The crown is produced by the lab and we attach it to the implant.
The gum will re-grow between the teeth over the next few weeks.
Implant Case 2D. Cosmetic anterior implant crown
This is the implant healing abutment showing through the gum, six weeks after implant placement.
The healing abutment is changed to a more conical and larger size healing abutment in order to shape the gum. This is left in place for 2 weeks.
You can see the healing abutment from above pushing back the gum margin and causing the gum to blanch temporarily.
This is the temporary crown in place shaping the gum around it.
This temporary implant crown will be left in place for 2-4 weeks until we are happy with the shape of the gum.
Final implant crown photo will be added shortly.
Implant Case 2E. Cosmetic zone anterior Implant crown
The patient presented with a recently extracted upper front tooth and wanted the socket restored with an implant.
We placed a Straumann implant to replace the missing tooth. We then covered the implant with a healing cap.
We restored the implant with a titanium implant abutment six weeks after implant placement.
We final ceramic crown was placed over the implant abutment.
The implant can be seen placed in the perfect position in between the two neighbouring teeth.
The final smile shows a well matching implant crown.
Implant Case 2F. Missing three back teeth
This patient presented with three missing back teeth and wanted the gap replaced with dental implants.
We placed three Straumann dental implants to replace his lost teeth.
Our planning model shows where we aim to place the final crowns.
The final screw retained crowns are attached to the three implants below.
The patients can now once again chew on that side.
Implant Case 2G. The Four unit Implant bridge on two dental Implants
This patient presented with four missing upper anterior teeth.
We Planned placing two dental implants and a four unit bridge on the two dental implants.
The two implant abutments were placed on models first.
We then placed two dental implants in the anterior region.
We placed the titanium abutments on the implants.
We loaded the two implants with a four unit bridge.
The patients smile is now transformed.
