This patient presented with a missing front tooth which he wanted to replace with a dental implant.
| |
| |
We placed an implant and a gold abutment on top of it.
Here you can see the gold implant abutment. |
| |
| |
The abutment acts as the link between the implant and the implant crown. |
| |
| |
We then restored the implant with a temporary crown and allowed time for gum contouring. |
| |
| |
The implant crown can be seen from above, sitting in harmony with the rest of the teeth in the jaw. |
| |
| |
Finally The definitive implant crown is bonded to the implant abutment.
Please note the natural looking gum margin around the implant crown. |

Implant Case 1B. Immediate Placement in the aesthetic zone
The Patient below presented with a broken down root. We removed this root and placed an implant on the same day.
| |
This is the X-ray of the root showing a broken post and sub-optimal root canal treatment. |
| |
| |
This is the socket once the root was removed. The extraction was done atraumatically causing no damage to the surrounding soft tissue and bone. |
| |
| |
The Straumann SLActive implant is then inserted into the extraction socket on the same visit as the root extraction. |
| |
| |
The titanium abutment is now attached to the implant. The abutment acts as the link between the implant and the crown. |
| |
| |
The crown is then cemented onto the titanium abutment with cement.

Implant Case 1C. Sinus tap procedure
The patient below presented with a gap in the upper 1st molar region. Her dentist had extracted the tooth a few months previously due to a failed root canal filling. |
| |
| |
From this pre-operative X-ray one can see that the bone in the extraction region has resorbed and the sinus floor is very close and likely to be perforated if an implant is placed carelessly. |
| |
| |
So we used the sinus tap technique to place a 10mm straumann implant and at the same time raise the sinus floor gently without perforating its membrane.
We also placed bovine derived Bio-Oss bone grafting material in the sinus floor region to promote bony growth at the implant base. |
| |
| |
We placed a straumann healing abutment over the implant and closed the flap with resorbable sutures.
The implant will be restored with a crown once bone & implant integration has occurred. |
| |
| |
| |
Eight Weeks Later ... |
| |
| |
This is the implant site eight weeks later, fully healed and the sutures now resorbed. |
| |
| |
The Healing cap is now removed, exposing the implant that has fully integrated with the bone around it. |
| |
| |
The screw retained crown and abutment is attached (screwed) onto the implant.
Please note the perfect contact with the adjacent teeth, the size and shape of the implant crown. |
| |
| |
The crown is now in perfect contact with the gum and is shaping it, making its appearance as natural as possible. |
| |
| |
The access hole is now sealed with white filling material. |

Implant Case 1D. Full mouth Rehabilitation
| The patient below presented with multiple teeth with poor prognosis and asked for a full lower implant supported bridge followed by the same for the top jaw once the work for the lower jaw is completed. |
| |
| |
On this X-ray you can see multiple upper and lower teeth with bone loss caused by previous gum disease.
Multiple lower back teeth have already been lost. |
| |
| |
Here you can see the lower teeth extracted and the very back over-erupted upper molars also extracted.
The patient was fitted with a temporary denture for eight weeks to allow any residual infection to settle and healing to take place. |
| |
| |
We placed 6 Straumann fast healing implants in the patient's lower jaw in one session.
As her bone quality and quantity was good, she did not need any bone grafting.
The treatment was carried out under local anaesthetic without any pain or discomfort. |
| |
| |
We will make a temporary bridge with twelve false teeth for these implants six weeks after implant placement.
We will then make the permanent bridge six weeks later.
Bridge pictures will soon be available. |

| Implant Case 1E. Missing lower front teeth |
| |
| |
This patient presented having lost his four front lower teeth.
We decided to place two dental implants and a four unit bridge to replace the lost teeth. |
| |
| |
Our planning model shows where we planned to place the four front teeth. |
| |
| |
We placed two Straumann dental implants in the jaw and placed a four unit ceramic bridge on top of those implants. |
| |
| |
This is the final X-ray showing perfect bone and dental implant integration.
The bridge fits snugly on the two implants below. |

| Implant Case 1F. Missing front tooth |
| |
| |
This patient presented with a missing front tooth and wanted the gap replaced with a Straumann dental implant. |
| |
| |
We first planned where the tooth should be placed with a trial smile.
The patient gave the go ahead once he saw the trial smile. |

| Implant Case 1G. Missing premolars |
| |
| |
This patient had lost her two upper first premolars. She wanted them replaced with two implants and also wanted a smile makeover for the rest of her teeth. |
| |
| |
We placed two straumann implants in the upper premolar region. |
| |
| |
The implants were left to heal within the bone for 8 weeks, |
| |
| |
The patient wanted her upper front teeth improved in shape and shade. |
| |
| |
Once the implants had healed, we placed two Emax veneers and four Emax crowns on the upper front six teeth.
We also re-root treated the front incisor. |
| |
| |
The two Straumann dental implants were restored with two Emax all ceramic crowns. |
| |
| |
The implant crowns blend well with her other crowns and veneers. |
| |
The patient now has no gaps on her upper jaw. |
