Smile Can lumineers be put on bonding?

I have stained discolored and misaligned teeth. A friend suggested to me about the Lumineers technology. I looked up the articles related to the technology but was unable to find answers for my questions. Can you tell me what type of veneer is a lumineer? Can lumineers be put on teeth that have bonding?

I have heard that Lumineers involves bonding of ultra-thin porcelain veneers to the tooth surface. Do Lumineers work on teeth that are filled or lightly filled? If lumineers can be put on teeth that have bonding or fillings attached to them, what happens when the filling gets dislodged and is not at its place anymore?

Default Can lumineers be put on bonding?

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

yes you can place luminners, that are a very thin layer of ultra strong porcelain, on top of the bonding but the question is whether one wish to do this and is it the right thing to do.

Luminners will stick to bonding without any problems but it is better to remove the bonding first because one a better aesthetic result can be achieved and second is that the bonding between lumineer to tooth is better than the bonding of lumineers to bonding material.

Existing filling where possible are included in the veneer itself so there will be no need for replacing the filling as there will be non. Where this is not possible one ha to make sure that the present filling is sound and if not then it has to be replaced. If the filling fail in the future then again they have to be replaced.
