Gap in between front teeth

Hi

I have a large gap in between my front teeth which I would like to close completely if possible. I saw my dentist and discussed this with him recently and he told me that the only way to close this gap, would be to have orthodontic treatment.

Apparently the gap is caused by my top lip pulling on my gums at the front and I will also need a surgical procedure to prevent that from continuing. I am 31 years old and the thought of going through orthodontic treatment for 18 months is very disheartening.

I would like to know if there is any faster way other than with braces, perhaps with veneers that the gap between my teeth could be closed. Would I still need to have the surgery on my gum as well if I decide to have veneers?

Thank you for your post. We would need to see you to tell you if the gap in between your front teeth can be closed with veneers or not. If the gap is very wide, we can not fully close it with composite/ceramic veneers as a very wide looking tooth looks wrong cosmetically. If the gap is very wide, you will need orthodontics such as Invisalign to close the gap.

If the gap is small to medium in size, we could close it for you with composite veneer or Lumineers or Emax veneers subject to your approval of your trial smile.

If you have a prominent frenum you may need to have frenectomy to prevent reopening of the midline gap once its closed.
