Should I have a gum lift before I have porcelain veneers?

Hello

I am interested in getting a set of porcelain veneers to improve my smile and make my teeth whiter and more visible. At the moment, when I smile my gums are showing a lot and my teeth are discoloured and very small and not that obvious.

So I have decided I would need between 6-8 veneers to improve my smile but I don't know if I should have a smile lift before I have the dental veneers or after I have the porcelain veneers fitted.

I think I will definately need a smile lift because my gums are just too high and almost covering my teeth in places. Also who would be the best person to see at the practice for the gum lift? Would be grateful for your advice.

Thank you for your question.

Whether you need repositioning of you gum is an issue that needs to be commented on by us after a clinical examination and it would not like to make a comment whether it is needed in your case or not without examining your mouth. But in a lot of cases this process may not be necessary. To reposition the gum, if it is necessary, we will need surgery which can be done by laser or conventional surgical treatment. Laser option is easier and is not available in many practices but I am very pleased to tell you that we offer this service at Pearl Dental Clinic.
