How long do Lumineers last?

Hi

I am thinking about getting veneers as my front teeth are very discoloured and even though I tried home whitening, my teeth are still very discoloured.

So I came across lumineers and I think this would be great for my teeth because it means that I wouldn't need to have so much of my teeth removed.

I would like to know on average how long do Lumineers last? How does their lifespan compare with normal porcelain veneers and composite veneers?

How long Lumineers last depends on how well they are done and how well they are maintained. On average porcelain veneers and Lumineers last around 10 years, although some last longer and some last less. Composite veneers on average last around 3-5 years.

Veneers fail if they chip, fracture, mismatch in shade with the rest of the teeth, stain, leak or debond repeatedly and eventually one of these things usually happens. You can prolong the life of your veneers by seeing a dentist and hygienist regularly and cleaning your teeth well with brush and floss daily and trying your best to keep decay and gum disease at bay.

Also if you suspect that you may be clenching or grinding at night, see your dentist for investigation and a possible nightguard to protect your veneers against bite forces and fracture.
