Cool Do Veneers cause tooth sensitivity?

    Hi

I am thinking about getting a smile makeover done with possibly six or eight veneers/lumineers. I am probably more likely to go for Lumineers on the basis that it doesn't need so much tooth removed, although I also like the cosmetic finish of Emax veneers.

My one concern is that I have heard that veneers cause tooth sensitivity and as my teeth are pretty sensitive even now, I am worried that the sensitivity will get worst with veneers. Could you tell me how likely it is for my teeth to become sensitive with veneers?

Default Do Veneers cause tooth sensitivity?

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

The sensitivity that some people have experienced after having veneers cemented on is for 2 main reasons. One is that the sensitivity is more likely with conventional porcelain veneers due to the substantial tooth removal that is done. With conventional veneer preparations the outer side of the teeth are removed deep down to the dentine of the tooth.

The second reason is the cementation process that can make teeth sensitive after having veneers. A lot of the cements used involve processes that can make the exposed dentine very sensitive even after the cement has fully set.
With the veneers that we do at pearl dental clinic, veneers do not cause tooth sensitivity as there is no or very little tooth removal and we have never had any patient indication that they suffered from sensitivity after having the Lumineers of Emax veneers cemented. So I do not think you will have any sensitivity after your veneers with us.
