Chipped and cracked veneers

Hi

I had six porcelain veneers made eight years ago and last week two of these veneers cracked and chipped and now I have a gap showing where the porcelain has separated from my tooth.

Could you tell me what sort of treatment you would recommend for these veneers? Do these porcelain veneers need to be remade or can they be repaired? How much does it cost to have six new veneers made?

Thank you for your question.

There is the possibility of repairing your veneers but realistically it is not very effective and cosmetically not ideal. It may not last long and may fracture again and over time cost can be very high. So my recommendation would be replacing the veneers.

Cost wise porcelain veneers start at £395 and go up to £495 depending to which type of veneer is chosen. you have the option of replacing just the 2 veneers that are damaged. But aesthetically would be very difficult to match the shape and colour of the new veneers with the old veneers for several reasons. So you would get a much better result if all six are replaced specially if they were placed several years ago.

the most important part of your treatment is to find out why suddenly after so many years suddenly 2 of your veneers have fractured. Have you developed a parafunction recently that has caused this? You need to come and see us for assessment because the last thing you want is the same thing happen to your new veneers.
