    Post Veneer keeps coming off

    Hi

My dentist fitted two veneers on my front teeth last month and since the veneers were fitted, one of the veneers has come off my tooth three times now. Is this normal for a a new veneer? The other veneer is fine and is staying on my tooth.

I thought that a dental veneer should last 10 years, so I am surprised that this one keeps coming off. Is there any reason why this veneer keeps coming off, what can be done to keep the veneer on the tooth?

    Default Veneer keeps coming off

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

It is unusual for a recently cemented veneer to come off few times so soon after placement. It seems one of the veneers is stable so it is unlikely the cause to be the type of cement used because very likely booth veneers are cemented with the same material. The other possibility is that one tooth during cementation has been contaminated by some elements like saliva for example.
the other factor can be that when the veneer is re-cemented the previous cements have not been fully debrided and removed from the veneer itself or the tooth. Sometimes the fitting surface of the veneer may need to be treated chemically or physically to increase the retention.

The commonest cause of veneers keeps coming off is occlusion or more commonly known as the bite interference. If Bite is not correct and the veneer is overloaded with teeth movement and contacts of the teeth, then they are debonded very quickly. My suggestion to you would be either to go and see own dentist for further assessments or we would be very happy to see you and assist you on this matter.
