    Question Black triangle

    Hi

In between my two front teeth there is a back triangle where I used to use tooth picks and the gum has receded. My dentist told me that black triangles are difficult to treat and I will have to live with it.

I would like to know if composite veneers could be used to close this black triangle. I dont want to have any porcelain veneers put on my front teeth because there is nothing wrong with them physically and it would be a shame to cut them down.

If composite veneers could work, what is the procedure for getting them and how long do they normally last? Can they be removed easily in future if they stain or discolour?

    Default Black triangle

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

Black triangles are not easy to treat and achieve good cosmetic result. To close them by composite veneers is a possibility but the results may not always be desirable and it very much depends on the individual cases and the situation exist. In some cases it may not be possible at all with composite veneers. You have to have a clinical examination and assessment before a decision can be made about which type of veneer would be the best option.

At Pearl dental Clinic we have treated many patients with this problem of black triangles with fantastic results. The best result, however, has always been achieved by means of porcelain veneers.
Composite and porcelain veneers tend to last between 7-10 years and composite veneers are more likely to get stained but can easily be treated and stains removed in most of the cases.
