    Talking Porcelain laminate veneers

    Hi

I am considering getting four porcelain laminate veneers done on my front teeth. I have been told that porcelain veneers can break if I grind my teeth at night. I have been aware of grinding my teeth for several years now and have tried to wear a guard at night but I cant get on with it.

I would like to know if there could be any serious problems with having porcelain laminate veneers and grinding my teeth at night? Are there any ways that I can protect the porcelain veneers without wearing a guard at night?

Also which type of porcelain veneer would be the strongest type of veneer to have and the least likely one to break?

    Red face Porcelain laminate veneers

Thank you for your post. Which ever type of Porcelain laminate veneer that you opt to have, requires protection against clenching and grinding habbits. If you do grind and clench your teeth, you should wear a nightguard to protect the porcelain veneers from fracture.

If you don't wish to or cant wear a nightguard, then perhaps porcelain veneers are not the right treatment for you. I would recommend that you see a cosmetic dentist to assess your bite and if there is a high possibility of veneer fracture, then I would recommend that you seek alternative treatment.
