Default Is it true grinding your teeth can damage a crown?

I grind my teeth when I sleep. I can't seem to stop this practice and I have no idea if it will cause damage to my crowns. Is there a method to stop me from grinding my teeth in my sleep? Will my crowns be damaged by the habit?

yes grinding or clenching teeth when sleeping can damage crowns and can cause porcelain fracture. If you do grind or clench your teeth, we would recommend having a nightguard fitted. There are different options such as soft nightguard, hard nightguard or NTI and you should ask your dentist regarding the best option for your case.
