Hi

I am not happy with my teeth and would like to have a hollywood smile. Would I need to have Lumineers or Emax Veneers to achieve a hollywood smile? How many Lumineers or emax veneers would I need?

I would like to know the procedure, number of appointments needed and a cost estimate for getting a hollywood smile.

In most of the cases to provide one with as you put it, Hollywood Smile, Lumineers have been used. This is beacuse this type of porcelain veneers were in a way specifically designed for the perfect smile. They were developed in the USA to allow perfect smile with minimal tooth reduction or preparations. They are still one of the best options to achive this type of smile.

In more recent years new technologies has allowed for the development of new type of veneers with Emax being one of them. Each type of porcelain veneers has its advantages and disadvanteges. Therefore whether lumineers or Emax veneers should be used for a Hollywood Smile will depent to individual cases.

Still in most of the cases lumineers are the prefered choice as they need less preparation and tooth removal and drilling. But in some cases Emax veneers are better. This assessment and decision has to be made clinically after examining the patient.

As lumineers are produced only by one laboratory in the world, Cerinate in USA, it takes longer for them to be prepared. Once the impressions are taken for lumineers, the actual veneers are returned back to Pearl Dental Clinic within 3-4 weeks. If Trial smile is done, then another 2-3 weeks is added to the length of procedure.
In the case of Emax veneers, many local laboratories in UK produce them, so the turn over time is quicker but one has to remeber to use a good credible Laboratory.
