    Cool Smile makeover

    Hello

I would like to have a Smile makeover and been looking at the different options of Lumineers, Porcelain veneers and composite veneers. I would like to know which Smile makeover option would involve the least amount of my own teeth being shaved down?

Am I right in thinking that if my smile makeoever involved a lot of my own teeth being removed, there will be a higher chance of having teeth sensitivity problems afterwards?

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

Can I start by responding to the second part of your question first.
In short yes the more tooth is removed, the more likely it is your teeth become sensitive after cementation of porcelain veneers. Having said that with the new advances in veneer technology very rarely there is a need for a lot of tooth removal unless it already exist and already a lot of tooth is removed by previous restoration (at least this is how it is at Pearl Dental Clinic). You really have to twist our arm very hard to convince us that tooth has to be drilled away!

It is not really possible to tell you which options of porcelain or composite veneers would involve the least amount of tooth removal because it varies from case to case. Clinically in a lot of cases it seems we can get away with no tooth removal at all in some composite veneers. But one has to remember composite veneers are not always the best option or possibilty as they can have their limits and they are not suitable in every case.

Porcelain veneers we use at Pearl Denatl Clinic like Lumineers or Emax veneers are very strong and hence can be made in very thin l ayers. Thus need minimal tooth removal if at all needed. In your case which option is the best and choice of treatment can only be assessed and said after examination and we would be happy to see you for a free consultation.
