Default Question to Dr Mohsen J. Esfahani

I have braces for over 2 years now and i haven't seen much improvement and am growing tired with it and the metals keep hurting my lip and inside of my mouth which make me bleed. I got little gaps between my teeth. It looks like i got to have my braces for more years and am already 18 now and it's conflicting with my social life. I will like to know if it's possible to have my braces removed and get my smile fixed with lumineers/veneers by you guys ?? Last thing my braces also made me have a gummy smile is there any way you guys can fix that ? Thanks for your time

    Thank you for your post.

Porcelain Veneers can certainly close gaps between your teeth but it may need some tooth shaving. Composite bonding may also work in this situation to close the gaps between your teeth without tooth shaving. This part of the treatment will be straight forward.

Gummy smile is a more difficult problem to sort out especially for an 18 year old. Gummy smile may have been caused by an upper jaw that has grown a bit too much or by lips that are too thin or by teeth that have suffered from altered passive eruption. Hopefully if the gummy smile problem is minor, it can be simply resolved with laser reshaping of your gum which will be quick and relatively non-damaging.
