    Post Suitable for Composite Veneers?

    Hi,

I hope you can help with a couple of questions I have!

I have been looking into getting composite veneers for a while now and am soon going to be at a point where I can finally afford them & have a couple of querries.

1/ I only have a very slight over bite, will the strength of the veneers need to be any different because of the fact that my upper and lower teeth practically bite onto each other?

2/ Due to the fact that I do not have a over bite my teeth arent very visable when I speak etc, so am hoping veneers could make my teeth bigger - is this possible?

I really hope you can help with my questions and look forward to hearing back from you.

    Wink Suitable for Composite Veneers?

    Hi Leah

Thank you for your post. We really need to see your teeth, to be able to tell you accurately if your teeth are suitable for composite veneers. Composite Veneers can be used to increase the length of your teeth, there is a limit to this and this depends on your bite.

If you have edge to edge contact between your incisor teeth in normal bite, by adding to the length of the top incisors, your bite may be opened up at the back and you may not be able to tolerate such a change in your bite unless its done in a planned and managed way.

In designing the length of teeth we don't just look at overbite and overjet, we also look at your lateral contacts and protrusion. Also any added length will have to take into account the other dimensions of the tooth as well and there has to be good proportion to the final shape of the tooth.

If you feel that you would like more information, you come and see one of our cosmetic dentists for a free composite veneer consultation.
