Question What is the difference between Lumineers and Veneers?

I am deciding on having a smile makeover done. I have seen the pictures of Lumineers and Veneers on your website. Can you tell me which would be best option for me?

    Dear Elle

Unfortunately without seeing your teeth I would not be able to tell you which is the best option for you. They both have there advantages and disadvantages.

Exclamation What is the difference between Porcelain Veneers and Lumineers?

    Hi Mohsen

Thanks for the post. This one is an interesting question, what broadly speaking are the advantages and disadvantages of Lumineers over normal veneers?

As the Lumineer is bonded to enamel, the bond is very strong, therefore they last much longer than traditional veneer .

Lumineers are a special type of porcelain veneer which are thinner and much stronger than regular veneers. They can be applied to teeth without any pain or need of anaesthesia as there is usually no tooth reduction.

The tooth under the Lumineer should be in a good condition . If the tooth is heavily filled with a composite restoration it is better if it is covered with a crown or a veneer.

As the Lumineers are fitted exactly to the gum level, if there is gum recession due to poor oral hygiene, the margins may become visible or stained .
