    Talking Acid damaged teeth

    Hi

For many years I have been drinking acidic drinks and citric juice drinks and as a result my dentist tells me that my teeth have been damaged by the acids in these drinks and now need to repaired with veneers.

I cant afford the 10K quoted by my dentist for ten porcelain veneers on my top teeth and I am looking for alternative cheaper treatment that could repair my teeth without costing so much money which I honestly don't have at the moment.

Could you tell me if acid damaged teeth can be repaired in any other way other than expensive porcelain veneers. Could I have few porcelain veneers for now just to make my front teeth look normal and later on invest in more veneers once I have saved up for them?

    Smile Acid damaged teeth

Thank you for your post. We would need to see your teeth first before we could give you specific advice.

However broadly speaking, both porcelain veneers and composite veneers could be used to repair teeth that have suffered acid damage. Composite veneers are far cheaper than porcelain veneers (half the cost) but they dont last as long on average and are more likely to stain.

You can invest in fewer porcelain veneers now and add more in future once you have the funds for more veneers but please remember that veneers done on separate occasions may not match 100% in shade and colour.

The other important point is that you must stop further acid damage to your teeth by isolating the cause of the acid damage to your teeth and preventing it from happening in future.
