    Talking Fluorosis

I have got some snow-white specks and some brown color stains which are very much visible on my front teeth. When I consulted my dentist he said that these patches and stains could be a case of fluorosis.

He said fluorosis is caused probably due to the over exposure to fluoride. All I want to know is, whether it would damage the structure of my teeth as I have heard that fluorosis will deteriorate the rigidity of my dental enamel.

Is there anything that I can do to remove the visible stains? I have started looking at my diet to minimize my intake of fluoride as my friend recommended stopping drinking fluoride rich water and other things that have fluoride. But I am now 29 years old, so I don't know if changing my diet now is going to make any difference to my teeth fluorosis.

But even with less fluoride in my diet, I still have not found any considerable changes to these stains on my teeth. What would be the permanent solution for this issue?

    Red face Fluorosis

    Thank you for your post.

To deal with the white fluorosis patches on your teeth, you have several options. They are:

    1. Teeth Whitening can work well but it depends on how severe the patches are and sometimes whitening can improve things but not get rid of the patches completely.

    2. Composite veneers can be placed on the teeth to cover up the patches and make the shade of the teeth more even.

    3. Porcelain veneers can transform the shape and colour of these teeth completely and provide a long term solution.

You need to book for a consultation so that we can assess your teeth and see which treatment is most suitable.
