    Lightbulb Optident teeth whitening

    Hi

I had teeth whitening done last year with the optident whitening system and my dentist gave me optident teeth whitening gel and plastic whitening trays. I used it for three and half weeks and my teeth looked pretty good at the end.

I rang the practice recently to order some more optident whitening gel but they said I will need to see the dentist again for a checkup before I can be given more whitening gel.

But seeing the dentist again is extra cost and I would like to know if I can order enlighten whitening gel from you and use it in my own home whitening trays?

    Smile Optident teeth whitening

    Hello Joe,

    Thank you for your post.

It is good to know you achieved nice whitening results with the home whitening trays and the optident whitening gel. Teeth whitening fades over time partly due to dietary staining and the natural ageing process of teeth. To minimise or prevent relapse, monthly touch-up whitening treatments are necessary. This can be done using the home whitening kit.

At Pearl we can see you for a free teeth whitening consultation. You will not be charged a check-up fee as it seems your dentist charges. We would like to see your whitening trays and check there condition and fit. If the fit is good we can then supply additional bleaching gel to use for the touch-up home whitening.

Enlighten whitening gel in my experience gives better whitening results than optident whitening gel. This is because its specially formulated and delivered to enhance the whitening effect and generally sensitivity is very low. Please contact the practise for a consultation and we will certainly be happy to help maintain your whiter smile.

    Smile Optident teeth whitening

    Hello Joe,

The following is general whitening advice and we do not recommend that you use whitening gel bought over the internet as whitening should always be carried out under the supervision of a dentist.

So therefore we are not responsible for any complications you may have.

The gel concentration you have purchased is very high and the chances of you experiencing sensitivity and gum burning is very high. Also your teeth may not be suitable for teeth whitening and by whitening them without dentist supervision, you place yourself at risk of serious complications.

Generally speaking, under the supervision of a dentist you should apply a small drop of a much lesser concentration bleaching gel in the front of the invisalign aligner and wear the aligner with the gel for only 1 hour. If you experience no or little sensitivity you can increase the wear time to 2 hours. You should bleach your teeth everyday for 2 weeks.

If sensitivity is experienced then use relief gel or sensitive toothpaste in the aligner and alternate between this and the bleaching gel each day. For safe teeth whitening much milder concentrations of carbamide peroxide should be used. You can also see us for a free whitening consultation.

    Hi,

I have recently been to my dentist and collected the trays to start my opident home whitening treatment. I collected the kit two days ago from the dentist and stupidly forgot to put the kit in the fridge... I put it in the fridge this evening (so it has been put for 2 days)- will it be okay to use for the first treatment tomorrow morning or have I ruined it by leaving it out? Any advice is appreciated - I don't want to use it if the solution has gone funny and end up with strange coloured teeth!

    Thanks,

    Vic

Tooth whitening gel should always be put in the fridge specially in hot summer days, although I dont know the room temperature in your house. The heat can degrade teeth whitening gel and the results may not be what you were expecting. Might be worth speaking to your dentist to see if he is willing to replace your whitening gel at cost price.
