Arrow White specks on my teeth

Im 21 and many of my teeth have white specks on them. In fact they were always dicoloured teeth ever since they came through. My back teeth don’t bother me because they dont show but i want to do something about the front teeth.

I have had several suggestions as to what I can do to improve the appearance, such as microabrasion, veneers, lumineers , crowns and tooth whitening.

Could you please explain to me firstly why I have these white spots on my teeth, and secondly which of these above treatments do you recommend I have.

    Many thanks

Smile White specks on my teeth

    Hello Jemma,

    Thank you for your post.

White spots on teeth can be caused by a number of reasons. They can form during tooth development due to excessive fluoride levels, such as in the water supply or ingestion of toothpaste. This can develop during the early years of life when the adult teeth are developing. White marks on teeth can also develop due to acid demineralisation of the enamel. This can happen for example during fixed brace treatment if oral hygiene is poor and dietary sugar levels are excessive.

The most appropriate treatment in your case will depend on the degree of white specks on your teeth. We would need to see you to assess your teeth and then discuss the treatment options in more detail. Usually we try home tooth whitening first, followed with acid microabrasion and finally restorative treatments like veneers.

All cosmetic consultations at Pearl are free and are available 7 days a week.
