Lightbulb Zoom Whitening or Home whitening?

    Hello

I would like my teeth whitened and I cant decide to have zoom whitening or home whitening done. I know that Zoom whitening is quicker than home whitening but I don't know what other differences there are between them.

Could you explain what are the differences between Zoom and home whitening and let me know which type of teeth whitening you would recommend? How quickly can they get the whitening procedures done once I decide to go ahead?

Smile Zoom Whitening or Home whitening?

    Hello Aysha,

Thank you for your post. Zoom whitening is a high power ultraviolet laser teeth whitening procedure. Home whitening involves wearing custom made bleaching trays loaded with carbamide peroxide gel. The main difference between zoom whitening and home whitening is the whitening time. Zoom is a single 1 hour 30mins procedure whereas home whitening can be carried out for many hours. Therefore zoom is a quick whitening treatment but as it is quicker than home whitening it is less effective.

Both treatments can temporarily make teeth sensitive although generally zoom whitening can create more sensitivity. After zoom whitening there can be an uneven whiteness as the necks of the teeth are more stained. With home whitening you can achieve even whiteness. Following zoom there is a degree of dehydration of the teeth and the whiteness tones down over the next 2 weeks to a more naturally appearance. Therefore there is more short term fading with the zoom laser. Whitening results are more prolonged with home whitening as you should do 1 night a month maintanence whitening.

If you don't have many crowns, veneers and bridges and your teeth and gums are healthy you should have the combination teeth whitening. This has the benefits of both the zoom and the home whitening.

Whitening treatments generally can be done within a week at Pearl as we are open 7 days and can offer evening whitening appointments.
