    Talking Sensitivity after zoom whitening

    Hi

I had zoom whitening done this morning at a practice in east London and my teeth have been on edge since the procedure was done. During the procedure I had some teeth sensitivity but the sensitivity is now much worst. The teeth whitening result is amazing, I never thought my teeth could become so white.

However, I have these shooting pains across in particular two of my teeth on the top, I dont know why these two teeth should be so sensitive. What do you recommend for stopping this pain and how long could this pain go on for?

    Smile Sensitivity after zoom whitening

    Hello Paul,

It is very common to have sensitive teeth during and after zoom whitening. This sensitivity is temporary and lasts for upto 48 hours after the zoom whitening. Normally the next day your teeth are fine and you start enjoying your whiter smile.

The sensitivity manifests itself usually as a shooting pain. You should firstly apply sensitive toothpaste to the teeth which have shooting pains. If relief is still not achieved then you should take painkillers. Effective painkillers include ibuprofen and paracetemol. You should ensure you have no allergy or medical contraindications to these medications and follow the recommended dose.
