Teeth discolouration

Hi

I smoke 20 cigarettes a day and unfortunately this has caused my teeth to become very discoloured. I have tried whitening toothpaste for a few months but it has not made much of a difference to my teeth.

I would like to know what sort of teeth whitening treatment you would recommend for whitening my teeth? I have to say that my teeth discolouration is very severe and I think I would need a very strong system to make a difference to my teeth.

Whitening toothpastes mainly remove the extrinsic stains on teeth as they are more abrasive than normal toothpaste. There are 3 ways to whiten teeth. Home whitening, laser whitening and a combination of laser and home whitening are the 3 teeth whitening treatments we offer at Pearl.

If your teeth are very discoloured then I suggest you have the combination teeth whitening. This involves having the zoom laser teeth whitening which is a high power ultraviolet laser teeth whitening treatment. The zoom procedure takes a little over 1 hour to complete and on average 8 shades of improvement is achieved. Following this you will be given a home whitening kit with enlighten evolution bleaching gel. The trays are used for 2-4 weeks and you should see some good results.

The long term success of teeth whitening will depend on how often you do touch-up whitening. You should try to do this 1 night every month.
