Powerfull whitening gel - safe?

Hi, my teeth have proven difficult to whiten in the past, often the whole tooth would not whiten, I would only get the odd white streak. I have read good things about a 38% carbamide peroxide gel, by discus dental (people who make zoom). On the other hand a dentist told me 38 would be possibly dangerous, without supervision etc. If I just use small amounts for a short period of time, will it be ok? I have special trays already

38% carbamide peroxide gel is not safe to use in special trays at home. This concentration of whitening gel is likely to cause major side effects such as gum irritation/ulceration and tooth devitalisation (nerve damage), even if used for a short period of time.

Clinical trials and scientific studies have shown that concentrations of carbamide peroxide much lower that 38% are safe and effective for at home tray whitening.

Some people find whitening there teeth more difficult. This is due to the nature of there teeth and the type of stains present. Prolonged tray whitening with scientifically approved concentrations of carbamide peroxide should give the whitening results you are happy with. If after 1-2 months of tray whitening your teeth are still not as white as you want then you should consider alternative treatments like veneers.
