Whitening baby teeth

Hi

I would like to know if there are any whitening systems available that could whiten my baby teeth. I have two missing adult teeth and my two baby teeth are still present but they are a bit discoloured.

I would like to know if whitening baby teeth is possible? Are there any whitening systems available that could whiten baby teeth?

Thank you for your question.

I am afraid there are no whitening systems available for whitening baby (primary) teeth. Primary teeth have large pulps which can be irreversibly damaged by the peroxide bleaching gel. It is for this reason that teeth whitening is not carried out.

The alternative solution to your discoloured baby teeth are composite or porcelain veneers. Veneering these teeth would mask the discoloration and also improve the shape if necessary. Primary teeth can progressively become loose with time and if this is the case, there long term prognosis is poor. In these cases planning for replacing these primary teeth should be considered.
