    Wink Yellow stained teeth

    Hi

I suffer from yellow stained teeth which I find embarrassing whenever I smile. I have tried whitening toothpaste but it has not made much difference to my smile.

I would like to know if you would recommend professional teeth whitening or Veneers to make my teeth more white and not stained.

Thank you for your post. I would firstly recommend seeing the dentist/hygienist for a thorough clean of your teeth.

Once all the plaque and stains have been removed, then you could try whitening if you wish. I would always try teeth whitening before veneers because its less invasive. If you are happy with the results achieved with cleaning and whitening then stop there.

If you still want your teeth to be whiter, then you could try dental veneers. However please understand that veneers are in most cases an irreversible dental procedure and so must only be undertaken if you fully understand the risks involved.

    Hello Rupert,

If you like the shape and position of your teeth then you should try teeth whitening first. Teeth whitening is conservative and affordable. Following the teeth whitening if you feel your teeth are white and not stained then all you need to do is maintain the whiteness. If on the other hand you are not satisfied with the whitening results you should then consider having veneers. Some veneer cases are irreversible and you should only go ahead with the treatment if you are clear of the benefits and risks involved.
