Post Can teeth whitening damage my teeth or gums?

    Hi

I am thinking about having Zoom teeth whitening followed by Home teeth Whitening with Enlighten gel. I wonder if you could tell me if teeth whitening could damage my teeth or gums?

Talking Can teeth whitening damage my teeth or gums?

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

A short answer to your question would be no, it does not. In other words the type of whitening systems like zoom whitening and the Enlighten hydrogen peroxide gel that we use at Pearl Dental Clinic do not damage the teeth or gum.

There are other forms of whitening systems that can damage the enamel of the teeth irreversibly but there are no evidence to show hydrogen peroxide gel based whitening systems cause permanent damage.

But one must notice that what ever form of teeth whitening is used, it is a form of strong chemicals that is applied to the surface of the teeth. In case of hydrogen peroxide gel based materials, there is no permanent damage. Sometimes we do get effects on the soft tissues of the mouth, like the gum, but these are reversible with no permanent effect. Unless the whitening is done by people of limited experience and do not follow the necessary protocols for whitening systems such as Zoom whitening, Home teeth whitening or combinations.

I am very pleased to tell you that we have a highly experienced team of our memebers at Pearl Dental Clinic that have done hundreds of safe teeth whitening for our patients if not thousands. We have one of the safest records as we stricktly follow all the required protocols for whitening systems.

We would be very happy to see you for further discussions and you can always book an appointment for whitening consultation which is free of charge at Pearl Dental Clinic, the centre of excellence for teeth whitening.
