Thumbs down Why are the neck of my teeth still yellow after teeth whitening?

    Hi

I had Britesmile teeth whitening about a month ago for my birthday and at the end of the treatment I noticed that the necks of my teeth were still yellow and had not become much whiter than before. Can you please tell me why this is? The dentist told me that in time the rest of the tooth might become more white. He recommended getting the home whitening kit as well. But I declined as I didn't think the teeth whitening results will be much better with that. Is there anyway to make these areas on my teeth become as white as the tips of my teeth. Are there any teeth whitening systems that can whiten the whole of my teeth?

    Thank you for your post.

Without seeing your teeth I can not say why the cervical neck of your teeth did not whiten as much as the tips of your teeth. Although its worth mentioning that dentine does not whiten with teeth whitening and only enamel whitens with teeth whitening. So in the cervical regions of the teeth where the enamel is very thin or sometimes non-existent due to tooth wear, the yellow dentine will remain yellow even after teeth whitening. The only way to whiten yellow dentine is to cover it up with white coloured resin bonding or porcelain veneers.
