    Arrow dark front tooth

Hi, im a 29 year old actress and my concern is that my front tooth is gradually becoming darker. The tooth has gradually become darker over the past year. I haven’t had any dental work previously done on that tooth and I dont know why its becoming darker so quickly. I don’t have any pain but the appearance of the tooth bothers me a lot. My own dentist says that some teeth can naturally become darker and I should just accept it. Could you tell me what's going on and what I can do to make my tooth as white as my other teeth?

    Hello Hannah

Front teeth can become discoloured overtime if they have been traumatised or become non-vital. Vital teeth can also become discoloured and they usually respond well to home whitening. A non-vital tooth needs root canal treatment to stop an infection developing. Non-vital teeth are not always painful and you should have this tooth assessed by a dentist. Teeth naturally can become darker overtime however not in 1 year as in your case. My advise is to see a dentist as soon as possible to have an assessment and the treatment options can then be discussed further. It is possible to whiten this tooth so it matches with the rest of your teeth.
