    Red face Tooth stain removal

    Hi

My teeth stain very easily and I don't know if there is something wrong with my enamel or the composition of my teeth but I find that as soon as the hygienist cleans my teeth, the teeth become stained again. I see the hygienist probably every 3 or 4 months but the stains just keep coming back soon after each hygiene visit. I do floss everyday and brush my teeth twice a day but none of these actions can stop the stains building up on my teeth. My friend suggested that I try teeth whitening for getting rid of these tooth stains. Is teeth whitening effective at removing tooth stains?

For removing extrinsic stains such as cofee, tea stains the best solution would be to see the hygienist for teeth cleaning. Teeth whitening is designed to whiten teeth and not to be used for removing extrinsic stains.

    Smile Tooth stain removal

    Hi Georgi,

There are 2 types of tooth stains, outside and inside stains. Outside stains are not within the enamel and dentine of the tooth. Outside stains can be removed by you when brushing or by the dentist or hygienist when having teeth cleaned and polished. Regular cleaning sessions are advised to maintain the health of the gums and teeth. Bleaching also known as teeth whitening can be very effective at removing inside tooth stains. Inside stains form our time partly due to our dietary and social habits such as drinking coffee/tea and smoking. Teeth whitening is only effective at removing inside tooth stains.
