Is it possible to do denture whitening?

Hi

I have an old complete denture that is very comfortable and I have been wearing this denture for over 10 years. The problem is that the teeth on the denture have now become very stained and discoloured.

I do not have any natural teeth remaining in my top jaw but I was wondering if it was possible to whiten my denture teeth to a lighter shade? Does teeth bleaching work on denture teeth?

If teeth whitening does not work on denture, what are my options for getting my denture teeth whiter than they are at the moment. I dont want to have another denture made because this denture is very comfortable and I am happy with it otherwise.

Denture teeth do not whiten with teeth whitening. All synthetic materials like acrylic, porcelain, composite etc do not whiten with bleaching.

To remove the staining and discoloration from your denture you should see a dentist and they will send it to the dental lab for polishing and cleaning. After this you should rinse and clean your denture twice a day with a suitable denture cleaning agent. Reducing the consumption of highly coloured and staining foods and drinks will also reduce future build-up of stains.

New dentures are usually necessary every 5-10 years. Since your denture is very comfortable you should have it copied and then you have a spare set.
