Post What are my dental sedation options?

    Hi

I need to have a lot of work done on my teeth. Its really due to not seeing a dentist for a number of years and allowing my teeth to get into a bad state due to my fear of visiting a dentist.

I now have pain across both sides of my face that randomly comes and goes and I have to repeatedly take antibiotics to fight the infections in my mouth. So I have decided that I would like to get my teeth fixed and stop these problems in my mouth once and for all.

Could you please let me know what are my dental sedation options? Is there an option to get knocked out fully and have all the treatment carried out in one session? That would be my preferred option, because I really get myself worked up before a dental visit and I rather keep the visits to a minimum.

Talking What are my dental sedation options?

    Thank you for your post.

Your sedation options are oral sedation, inhalation sedation or IV sedation. The most effective in adult dentistry is probably IV sedation.

The option of being fully knocked out (General anaesthetic) is not practiced much outside hospitals these days and the risks that GA carries are too high for general dentistry which could be done without the GA risks under sedation instead.
