Thumbs up How is IV sedation administered?

    Hi

I am interested in your IV sedation service for my dental treatment. I have a lot of cavities and they are mostly caused by my fear of dental treatment and mainly my fear of the dental drill putting me off seeing a dentist for so long.

I think however that Iv sedation would be ideal for me and could be the answer to my prayers and I think I would like all my dental treatment carried out under Iv sedation.

Could you tell me how is IV sedation administered? Would I be able to tell the anaesthetist, if I feel that my sedation level is not enough and request to have more sedation drugs administered?

Talking How is IV sedation administered?

IV sedation is administered using a small Intra-venous cannula in your arm which allows the drugs to be administered into your blood very quickly and so its effects are almost instantaneous.

Iv sedation is calibrated and so the anaesthetist will have control over the level of sedation. If you tell her that you are still anxious, she administers more drugs as necessary and very quickly you will become more sedated.
