Root canal with sedation

Hello

I need a root canal on my lower molar tooth because the tooth has become infected and antibiotics are not working. My dentist tells me that the procedure takes around 2 hours. I dont think that in all honesty I can tolerate 2 hours of root canal treatment and was wondering if its possible to have root canal treatment with sedation?

If sedation is possible, would I need IV sedation or oral sedation? Could I have the sedation treatment on a Saturday, so that I can rest afterwards and go back to work on Monday?

Thank you for your question.

Yes you can have root canal treatment under sedation and my suggestion for a long procedure like root canal on a molar tooth would be intravenous sedation as it is more predictable than oral sedation.
