    Exclamation IV sedation

    Hi

I need to have two fillings done on my back teeth because my dentist tells me that those teeth have decayed. My issue is that, I'm very nervous when it comes to dental injections and can't tolerate the dental needle.

Your site says that you provide IV sedation for patients who need it, which I think I am definitely one of those patients. Can you tell me how it works? would I need to be seen for a consultation first or can we go straight to the treatment?

Is IV sedation safe? I suffer from type 1 diabetes, would I be able to have IV sedation or would I need to have some other form of sedation? How qualified is your Sedationist in doing IV sedation? Is he or she very experienced?

    Wink IV sedation

    Thank you for your post.

We need to first see you for a consultation to see if your are medically fit for IV sedation and also to assess your dental needs and provide a treatment plan.

Once we are agreed on a treatment plan, we then arrange the IV sedation with the specialist anaesthetist. The anaesthetist is a general anaesthetic theatre anaesthetist and so she is vey experienced with sedation. As far as I am aware, diabetes should not prevent you from having IV sedation, but we need to discuss this with the anaesthetist.
