Oral sedation

Hi

I have been told by my dentist that I need a tooth removed due to it becoming infected. I don't tolerate dentistry very well and was wondering if oral sedation could help me overcome my anxiety.

Is oral sedation available for dental extraction outside hospital or do I have to go to a hospital to have oral sedation treatment. Will I need to bring somebody with me to take me home after sedation treatment?

Thank you for your question.

At Pearl Dental Clinic we only provide intravenous (IV) sedation for our nervous patients. This is because this form of sedation is the most predictable form of sedation where we can be sure a good level of sedation can be achieved so the treatment can be completed.

We do not provide Oral Sedation because the outcome of it is not as predictable as IV sedation and sometimes patients are not sedated enough to allow the dentist to complete the treatment with oral sedation.

You do not need to go to hospital for oral sedation and if you wish to have treatment under IV sedation we would be very happy to assist you at PEarl Dental Clinic. You just need to make an appointment for examination and then we can discuss your case further.
