I am nervous about having braces

I am due to have my teeth prepared and fitted with braces in the new year but the thought of it fills me with worry. I had braces when I was a teenager and I remember the wires digging into my gum and it being very uncomfortable every time the braces were adjusted by the orthodontist. I also remember having four teeth removed last time for my braces which was probably the worst experience of my life.

I am now 27 years old but I have been told by my orthodontist that my teeth have become crooked again and need to be straightened with braces. I know that come the day of having the train tracks fitted, i will probably ring and cancel my appointment because of my anxieties.

I wonder if its possible to be sedated for having braces fitted or adjusted? If so, is that a service that you provide and how much is it likely to cost to have my teeth straightened with sedation?

IV sedation is available on all treatments carried out at Pearl Dental Clinic except Teeth whitening, if you are a nervous patient, but we do not provide IV sedation services for treatments carried out else where. If you wish to have IV sedation for parts of your Orthodontic treatment, you should ask your Orthodontist to see if it is possible for him to arrange it for your sessions with him.

However, at Pearl Dental Clinic, we do provide Invisalign Orthodontic treatment, which involves no metal wires at all, and simply consist of a series of moulds of your teeth that you would need to wear. These moulds are nearly invisible so can very rarely be noticed, and are usually ideal for Adult orthodontic cases, and cases such as yours, where your teeth have regressed from previous orthodontic treatment as a child.
