Arrow Will I see what is going on during IV sedation?

    Hi

I need to have my right wisdom tooth removed and been told that it can be done under sedation. My own dentist is on holiday and cant do it this week but I would like to have this wisdom tooth removed under IV sedation as soon as possible. My only worry is that I would like not to see any of procedure when its being done such as the injection, drilling, ... Will my eyes be shut during IV sedation, will I be asleep or will I be aware of everything and seeing everything that is going on? I would like not to see or hear anything if that is possible under IV sedation. Please advise if that kind of IV sedation is possible?

IV sedation involves you breathing for yourself and so you have to be conscious to be able to do that. You may or may not be asleep depending on the depth of IV sedation. With deep IV sedation you are more likely to be asleep but your vital stats will be monitored with machines to ensure that you are conscious and breathing ok. We can if you wish, put special eye coverage over your eyes so that you do not see any of the procedure.
