Is dental sedation safe?

I am 34 years old and I have not been to see a dentist for many years. Five of my teeth have broken down so much that they should be removed and the rest have a lot of holes that need urgent attention.

I know that I cant tolerate any treatment without dental sedation. I would like to know if IV sedation is safe and if it is safe, is it possible to do so much treatment under dental sedation? Also would I need an escort for IV sedation, I have seen some sites that say I do need to have an escort and some others say that I don't need an escort for sedation.

Thank you for your post. As long as you are medically fit and well with no medical contraindications and IV sedation is carried out by an experienced anaesthetist and the correct equipment is available, then IV sedation is extremely safe.

You can have the treatment that you have mentioned under IV sedation and local anaesthetic without any problems. You will for sure need an escort to take you home afterwards and for safety reasons you must not use any machinery for 24 hours after the procedure.
