Why don't all dentists provide painless injections?

I have been reading about painless injections and it seems a logical solution for patients such as myself who suffer from needle phobia to have painless injections for fillings and so on.

My own dentist says that he does not have the equipment to provide painless dental injections and says that he will have to refer me to someone else if I wish to have a painless injection.

I would like to know why don't all dentists provide painless injections? If it helps needle phobic patients, surely it would be better if all dental clinics provided painless injections for their needle phobic patients.

Thank you for your post. We along with some other dentists use the wand painless injection system and some other dentists use topical anaethesia and other techniques to reduce injection pain. So I think that every dentist tries to reduce injection pain in one way or another.

We can't possibly have all the equipment available on the market in each practice, because the cost of such an exercise will be very high. So if you are looking for a dentist that provides the Wand system, you can ask your dentist to refer you.
