    Question Is IV sedation dangerous?

    Hi

I am a twenty five years old and I have not been to see a dentist in almost 10 years and I am worried that I might have cavities and gum problems as a result of not seeing a dentist for so long.

My main fear is the tooth drilling as I had a bad experience when i was a teenager when the dentist carried on drilling even though I was in pain and could feel what he was doing.

I have seen on your website that you offer IV sedation. I am healthy myself But I am worried that IV sedation might be dangerous to my health as I have heard that it slows down breathing when its administered.

I would like to know if IV sedation is safe and if you would recommend it for my case. If I decide to go ahead with IV sedation, what is the procedure for getting the treatment started?

    Lightbulb Is IV sedation dangerous?

    Thank you for your question.

Multiple drug deep IV sedation is very safe in the hands of a well trained and experienced specialist anaesthetist. Our experienced specialist anaesthetist is the only person who provide deep multiple drug IV sedation at pearl dental clinic.

Obviously if multiple drug IV sedation is carried out by an inexperienced operator then it can be dangerous but we only employ a highly skilled and experienced specialist anaesthetist for multiple drug IV sedation and so far I am glad to tell you that we have had no complications with deep IV sedation.
