    Exclamation Swollen cheek

Yesterday when I woke up I found my cheek swollen. Then I went to see my dentist thinking that it is related to my teeth. My Dentist took some x rays but found nothing on the xrays but he did say that one of my old root fillings may have failed.

This morning my face looks like a balloon. I thought that it was due to the cold I had last week but my GP says that its probably a dental problem. I feel a lot of pain in my cheek and not able to talk normally.

I have taken a lot of painkillers and the antibiotics that my GP gave me and I just cant carry on like this, I am not able to work properly or go out to see people.

Please let me know what is the treatment for getting rid of this severe problem? Should I have the tooth removed or should I be on even stronger antibiotics.

    Red face swollen cheek

    Hi

Thank you for your post. A swollen cheek may be caused by a tooth infection. You will need to be assessed by an experienced dentist to see if you have a tooth infection.

If you have a tooth infection, antibiotics alone are not going to solve your problem and you will need either root canal treatment or tooth extraction as well. I would recommend booking for a consultation so that we can do a full assessment of your teeth and provide you with a treatment plan.
